The guy sold it while I was making arrangements to have it taken to the PPI. Apparently a guy from out of town liked it enough over the internet to buy it without seeing it. Brave move, but he's driving the car right now and I'm not. So my search for my new TT continues. I'm bummed about it because the car seemed perfect, but I still wanted my tech to say it was sound. After driving the X-50 Package I am completely spoiled and will have to find one that has that option!!! Let the new search begin!

That sucks - but that's how I bought mine. Pictures on the Internet - I didn't even drive it before I bought it. I did have him drive it to me (1000 miles) and put the cash in his hands at the vehicle registration office when the title cleared properly. It felt like the right car - no regrets.

you really have to move quick when a good car comes up. Turbos are going up in value so jump aboard before they get too pricey! Im very satisfied with my purchase and i bought a car with 40k miles. I was dead set on buying a low mileage car but often they turned out to be early year models that werent serviced regulary and generally just sat around without being used which creates dry seals on the motor and an expensive fix. My advice is buy the cleanest car you can even if the miles are higher its ok..

that all being said - you cant just go out and buy any old turbo because your anxious and want to be done with the search. Im an extemely impatient person and i waited 3 months to find the ONE!

I would strongly advise to buy a car from porsche with a warranty, my car is a 2003 and it has a couple small niggles.. by niggles i mean a couple bulbs out, worn seal on the front trunk and high sitting handbrake and the remote central locking isnt working so they are replacing the module all this stuff will be covered under the warranty

Are you sure you need an X-50? with a simple tune your pusing 500hp with a non x-50

I feel your pain. I'm less than 2 weeks away from picking up my new '02 TT. I sent a deposit with sale contingent upon a a favorable PPI from the local Porsche dealer. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the advice! Next time I will be quicker to the "draw". I will search the fourm for the tune that can get it to 500hp, what's the best 'search' name to enter to find the info on what that tune is? In the mean time I'm back to my search. Thanks

If it makes you feel better; I spent almost a full year searching for mine. I started last year when the market was really depressed on these cars and wound up spending 20% more this year when I finally pulled the trigger. I had 4 or 5 cars fail ppi, one sold out from under me for $500, and a small private dealer try to raise the price $2.5k above asking price claiming the car was mismarked. Every time I lost one my wife reminded me that it may be a blessing in disguise. anyway, I bought a 10k mile car with lots of dealer installed upgrades (I never would have spent the money on them), including 19" champions, almost up to date on maintenance, clutch issue resolved.

The right one is just a few PPI's away!!!

I too feel that the cars i didnt buy were a blessing in disguise! but then again some cars are even lemons when new.. so its just luck of the draw but it obviously helps to rule out bad cars with a ppi

Thanks for the feedback and you are right, maybe it was a blessing in disguise. I have done most of my searching on Autotrader; is there any other resourse to use that I should know about to find my TT?

Cars.com may have some. Be patient... I had deposits on two other turbos before I bought the one I did so your car is out there... just be patient! PPI is a must and even though you lost that deal, don't feel bad b/c it could've saved you from a huge headache. Best on your search
