Broken tranny mount on tip 996tt.
Hello, I'm relatively new to the forum and bought my car a couple months back. 2001 tip car with about 37000 miles.
When driving it the other day, I was noticing a hard thump against the floor pan on hard excelleration..just as I mashed the throttle. I immediately thought a broken engine or trans mount. Sure enough, the center transmission mount..Im really not sure what the technical term is..or if there is one? My mechanic pulled it out and the rubber bushing inside the mount was completely tore lose!
Does anyone know if this is normal for these cars?? Or is this just a freak thing? Before I replace it, is there an upgraded part available?? Any help would be great. Thanks, Eric

Here's some info in a DIY article I did a while back.

Don't drive it around like that as I think it might lead to the damage of the front output shaft in the tippy.
