Built-in radar detector

Hi all- I've got a total newbie question here.
I just bought a 2001 TT a couple days ago (my first Porsche)

I see on top of the steering column there is a passport radar detector display. I have read that some of these have a built-in detector. How can I find out if mine does, and if so, can somebody tell me where the controls are? (my car did not come with an owners manual)

I've never heard of this as a factory option. Only aftermarket. Does the display have power when you turn the key on? If so, what color does it come on with? Also, any audible sound at start up?

you've got a fine unit if you got a 9500ci! I just had one installed in mine. Blue text, status readouts upon ignition start. you'd probably also see a USB port installed (typically) around the fuse box front drivers side floor. Also probably have the radar head installed behind the front grill and also check if you've got laser transceivers in the front grill somewhere (another clue).

Enjoy the new ride!
