What are the engine differences between 996 Turbo and 997 GT2 RS?

never heard that one before That must have been a salesman. I wonder if it isn't the cheesy salesmen that cause all the problems

I had a hard time trying to say this isn't true..
I should translate what they came up with when I started a thread about hybrid turbos...
Guess why I practically only follow 6speedonline now...
So much tech infos here, tuners, engine/tranny builders sharing their direct experience... I love this place.
end of my OT, sorry OP.

Some time ago this argument started a sort of "flame" in an Italian Porsche forum...people is convinced about these differences over there...lol. "Different Nikasil treatment" came out at a point.

I'd like to see the pistons in an 8 liter 6 cylinder. The rods would bend for sure.

I remember a few years back there was an article that said that Porsche was up against their engine architecture as far as 4 liters being the biggest the engine would go....fast forward...and they drop a 620 hp 3.6 car on us....way to sand bag Porsche!

my understanding is also that had Ferdinand known that the F6 could go to 3+L he would have been pissed. He liked them small

This reminds of the time I was choosing between 2 different HP printers some years ago. One cost about $200 more than the other but as far as I could tell they were identical with the exception for the number of pages printed/min. I called my friend who worked at HP and asked him what's the scoop. He said both printers indeed contained identical internal parts, except the one that printed slower was chipped to slow it down.

This isn't directed at you germeezy, but everytime I hear the term "purest driving experience" (typically quoted by the air-cooled guys), I always want to tell them to go purchase a Model 'T'. It doesn't get any purer than that.

On another note, I just read that the GT2 RS went 0-100 km/h in 3.5 and 0-200 km/h in 9.8. That's a 6.3 second 100-200 km/h time on a non-dedicated run. Faster than a RUF RT-12 and CGT.
We could see a 60-130 times in high 6's/low 7's from this car. That's very impressive.
