996tt or gtr?

Oh, I'm not debating the ability of either car. The GT-R costs 25k to get into the 9's...
No insider information required. We all know what the specs are. I don't doubt at all that 911 can be made to go even faster than a GT-R. That wasn't what I saying. In fact, the OP already mentioned that because the GT-R can't go much above 200 mph, this isn't the ideal car for him.

I do like the GT-R, don't get me wrong. It's a very cool car, but I still love Porsche. Although soon as I can I'm jumping into the Lambo boat! I don't like to use my car to pick up girls, etc.. But it's just like Porsche is almost a status symbol which sucks sometimes others it's good.

^ lol! UR Lambos are in another league.
The fastest I've heard a GT-R run in the standing mile is ~203MPH because of bigger tires and a software adjustment to raise the rev limiter in 6th gear.
A few GT-R's bounce off the rev limiter wayyy before the end of the mile at speeds around 195mph. Until there is a final drive or something, we won't see any speeds higher than that.

Considering the GT-R is 2 years newer than the 997TT and the VR38 is brand new compared to the Metzger GT1 motor, this isn't half bad. I'm sure someone will really step up the game once they spend enough dough on a GT-R setup for the mile.

VERY few of the '09's have sold for high $50's because if somebody financed an '09, this is almost exactly the amount remaining on the loan, and this person wants out (for whatever reason) without any penalties.
Most of the GT-R's are averaging $65 (private sale) to $70k+ (dealer sale). Not bad for a 2yr old car that sold for around $73k MSRP new.
So based on this trend (and older GT-R trends, along with Nissan's trends) i don't see what you base this on. Please educate me.
(Unless you're speculating that people who've paid on the car for 4 years, suddenly wants out will become the norm)

Here is a '10 with low miles you could probably get in the high sixties and it's at a Porsche dealer. MSRP was 84,720

Don't get me wrong, I hope the prices come down - so I can buy a second one for my wife. But these aren't the norm. Yes, we all know the MSRP of the 2010's (there is only one paying option - iPod mount). Not sure why you mentioned it... If you want to get technical the '09 had two MSRP's, but I'm sure anybody who bought one (or was in the market) knew this already.
I found a 997 C2S for $35k. Doesn't make it the norm. And there might even be something 'fishy' about the car. We won't know until it's purchased.

Dude no joke I've picked up more girls in my Z71 then the Porsche. Even back when I had my C5 6 years ago I actually got the girls in my 93 Blazer (the version that was the Tahoe body style) that was on 33s with a little lift.
For some reason the girls just aren't the biggest Porsche fan!
