996tt or gtr?
#61
Most cars hit the 50% mark after 5 years. M5 or M6 are just a few examples with prices in the $40's with low miles. Used GT-R's prices seem to be dropping even more rapidly. It's only been out for over a year, and the price is already in the the $50's. More reasons why I believe GTR will be in the $30's after a few more years: harsh ride, expensive to maintain, not reliable to be on a track and not comfortable to drive on the streets.
Not sure about your claim here...
VERY few of the '09's have sold for high $50's because if somebody financed an '09, this is almost exactly the amount remaining on the loan, and this person wants out (for whatever reason) without any penalties.
Most of the GT-R's are averaging $65 (private sale) to $70k+ (dealer sale). Not bad for a 2yr old car that sold for around $73k MSRP new.
So based on this trend (and older GT-R trends, along with Nissan's trends) i don't see what you base this on. Please educate me.
(Unless you're speculating that people who've paid on the car for 4 years, suddenly wants out will become the norm)

It's been 2 years. And again, I disagree with your reasoning - the average sale for an '09 GT-R is $67k (statistically). The average GT-R is down about 17%. This is a little different than you suggest.
I wished you were more correct, so I could get another one. But I think your figures are off. We'll see, I guess, in 2 years. Until then, it's just speculation.

I remember us discussing the GTR when it came out two years ago and how it was supposed to be 75k, but you had to pay 85k for one. Seems like from the REAL sales figure of 85k, the price has already dropped drastically.

Porka, but that's just me.
GTRs have been running around Aust for 20 years (and I've had a pretty modded R32) it seems though you can trap 130+ in one with a good tune and exhaust as a chap ran a high 10 and 131 mph with a tune, intake and midpipe at WSID here in Sydney in June.

There were quite a few '09's (after the initial few months) that sold for around MSRP. Some dealers are STILL charging mark-up, because people are still paying. I think the car is holding it's value fairly well. Which is unfortunate for people who are waiting for the price to drop like a rock so we/they can buy one (or another one).

GTR's are falling like a stone just wait a little and pick one up for 45k$ this fall. I suppose next gen of GTR's will not need a driver they will come with a nice computer from sony that will drive the car for you so you dont need the hassle of shifting and braking and moving the steering wheel etc. .

Ha ha.
Jasper is good to go, though. He debates Porsche guys on a Porsche foum yet typically seems to handle himself in a mature, polite manner.
Keep it up, Jasper.

I actually paid $79k for mine ($85k including warranty and tax). But you don't base the residual value of a vehicle on the dealer independent mark-up, do you?

absolutely you do. I don't care what car it is. I don't care what the msrp is. If the bastards are charging 10k more, that is what it is worth. If the majority of GTR's went for $15-20k more than msrp, then the average is much higher than what you paid. you got a deal. your loss ratio is good. the average GTR owner can't say that. So if you look at the average sale price, you base the loss from that, and it is not 75k. not by a long shot. No more than the FordGT was 150 or 170k, whatever it's msrp was, which ford over inflated because they could. just my opinion.

That's why I don't mind having fun with him!!!

Ha..Ha... I wish. For perfomance it delivers and easy to mod, no way. Nada. Do you know near 20 years old Supra with 40-70Kmiles still sell for $20,000-30,000?

Supra is a special case with post movies, and the numbers are limited. No other cars like it for the last decade. GTR is just Nissan's interpretation of the 997tt at a price and there are a lot of them in the used car market right now looking for owners.
