Differences between brands of billet DVs?

Hey guys, I was thinking about buying a set of billett diverter valves since they are so inexpensive and an obvious must have for any plans to run higher boost down the road. I was wondering if there are any kinds that are better than others.

Also is this a DIY job? It seems like it should be. Looks like there are only a couple of hoses to move out of the way. If there is a DIY guide on this out there somewhere, I'd love to have it. Thanks

Eric

The OEM style DVs are maintenance free. I had set of evo billet DVs, but by the recommendation of UMW, i got a set of bosch DVs. The non oem style billets supposedly build up oil and you will need to clean the oil for optimal performance.

I also attempted to install them, however it was too difficult and the local shop did for a good price.

Great thread, thanks OP. I'm also wondering what most guys say on here. I'm considering changing my 50/50 BOV for a set of billet DVs. I keep hearing about the Forge Motorsport ones but from the looks of it they are all relatively the same. I don't mind the maintenance of the billets since they are more precise than OEM at doing their job. I'm looking to do the EPL flash soon and everyone has said I should switch over to billet DVs.

But I thought the OEM ones leak boost when you push more than 0.7 bar or does Bosch also make a set of OEM billett ones that are maintenance free? What kind of maintenance are we talking about. How frequent and how involved?

I've had a set of Agency Power billets for about 6 months now without a problem--so nice not to have honking geese in my ears

I did it myself--easy job but tight spaces. REALLY helps if you can lower the engine.

Haha, definitely worth it not to have embarrasing honking geese sounds coming from your high end car.

I see you have a silicon F-hose. Did you do that upgrade at the same time? Worthwhile to do that as well while I'm in there?

what kind of bov are you using? Is anything bad about it. I am thinking about using a bov instead.

UMW sells a set of Bosch ones that hold more than 1 bar. UMW stated that there will be oil build up from other aftermarket type DVs.

you cant use a TRUE BOV unless you convert to a blow through system, without it ,its metered air you would be disposing of and will throw your tune off and you may get a cel.
