as the title sates gentlemen, i have a 55 gal drum of race gas, since december. i have used some here and some there, but sealed it tight as i can , and stored at pretty much room temp ,and its sitting on a concrete floor.
can it go bad ?anyway to test it?

Not claiming to be an expert, but stored race gas does loose octane over time even properly stored. Air leaks and heat simply accelerate the process. Properly stored it looses octane points slowly like one each month. If you dont use a drum in two or three months I would buy smaller quantities.

You have no worries if it is stored tightly (no air leaks) and at room temp. There is nothing in there that will decompose over the time frame that you need to worry about. To get it analyzed is not simple. To do it right, you need to use gas chromatography and would have to compare it with a "fresh" sample and have standards of each component in the fuel. Even different batches of "fresh" samples would like show some variability based on the source of crude oil. You're fine. Just use the tank within a year, mainly so you can enjoy it!

I used my drum up already and thats from me being stupid and driving the car every day as a daily driver with 109 in it. But i want the 100% protection that its there when i hit it and dont want to say well there is more in it i just cant show you till i fuel up.
If you have had it since December i would say you may have lost a bit of the rating once it cracked open, You did store it in a Cool dark dry place thought right?

Also to get the maximum acceleration performance from your car is to lessen the rotating mass weight. To achieve this all you have to do is release all the air in your tires & replace it with Helium, this will not only relieve some of the rotating mass but also lighten the cars overall weight.

Mark brings up a good point. I've been told that race fuel should not be stored on concrete or in plastic containers because nitromethane can leech out. Not sure if this is truth or myth.
