Stephen,
According to Alex a block is "one" piece while a case is "two" pieces. Alex also cautioned me not to count the bolts when determining the number of pieces. In addition, he said if the rods break and result in a block with more than one pieces that you now have a case.

You should compare the casting process of the new case to the old one before determining which is better. There have been issues already with the units, both with the ones complete and sold with the car and the others bought from Spain. The process is cheaper there.

Isn't there a significant difference between bar and cfm? Why don't we use CFM to gauge this ****? I mean, I could be making 1000psi but if its only in a 1/8 inch tubing who really gives a care?

In the thirty plus years I have been having my own motors built, casting problems have always been something to be aware of, no matter whose product. It has been a common practice of mine to pressure test a "block or case" before proceeding with costly machine work and assembly. If there is a casting problem and you pressure test, the problem becomes very evident right from the start. Why take a chance and skip the pressure test?
As a side question, I am aware or Kevin's leak in an oil passage. I am also aware the case is being successfully used in the race programs. Compared to the amount of cases manufactured I believe this problem is being exaggerated a bit. If the case doesn't have a manufacturing flaw it is definitely a stronger case.
