Agree completely - great car Dr. J.
No offense, but no - you don't.
I have a friend in CO that has a alabaster (sp) white one with a Kleeman SC on it.

Got me curious! is this option for real?
AMG Performance Package Plus:
Description:
Engine: AMG 6.3L V8 w/P31
Increase of Output +30hp
Includes engine enhancements: lightweight forged pistons, lightweight connecting rods, revised crankshaft, revised ECU and exclusive engine intake runners in titanium gray finish.
AMG Performance Package
AMG Leather & Alcantara Performance Steering Wheel
Limited Slip Differential
AMG Track-Calibrated Suspension System
Delimitation Of Top Speed To 174 MPH
Includes compound braking system.
Trunk Lid Spoiler in Carbon Fiber
Red Brake Calipers
What's the significance of the light pistons and crank? it seems a base C63 can be chipped to over 500HP?

You can get more power than a stock P31 on a standard C63 with a reputable aftermarket tune... that said, there's a lot of speculation that a tuned P31 will squeeze out slightly more output, apples to apples. A couple stock P31's have dyno'd pretty impressive figures already. Haven't personally seen a tuned P31 result yet, but it should interesting once they start trickling in.

Well, if you're just talking the motor, Brabus biturbo'd an ML63 and GL63 (FYI - larger engine bay). AFAIK, it's the only successful FI implementation on any of the 63 AMGs. They also allegedly have AMG factory connections unlike any other MB tuner to address the major ECU hurdles in developing that system. EDIT: apparently, Kleemann also biturbo'd an ML63 for a prototype; not sure if they ever offered it for sale. To the best of my knowledge, no one has done it with a non-SUV, however.
Otherwise, 63 AMG tuning has primarily been about hardware to address intake/exhaust bottlenecks and software to optimize the changes. Pretty responsive to it, too... LTs and tuning and several of these cars are 450+rwhp/400+rwtq.

That's a very nice stable of cars. I thought the E46 was one of the best all around cars I ever owned. Not a Turbo 911, but it's not meant to be. Can't even imagine what a blown E46 is like.
