Air vent help

Have had my 02 996 tt for just over a week now and am absolutely wrapped.. Just have 2 issues with the car. 1 is the tires rubbing on the rear guards (I guess the offsets on the techarts but I'll post on this later once I've done my measurements). The one I want to ask about now is the odd one..
My aircon vents inside the car seem to be disintegrating.. Whenever the fan is running, particularly at high speed little bits of plastic and foam come flying out of the vents. After a few drives it's a small handfull of material. Just wondering whether this a problem anyone else has come accross. The car is immaculate and only has 35000 km on the clock but I don't know whether this is a result of the age and the humid climate in Malyaysia. I guess ultimately the dash will need to come out and the parts replaced but just would appreciate any initial thoughts
