power steering died

i'm a relative noob when it comes to the mechanical issues so could use some help

driving along today steering makes a weird kind of rubbing noise when i turn, gets worse then power steering dies, then a few minutes later the clutch gets very stiff and the pedal springs back up much harder than usual, then the clutch pedal feels normal, then its stiff again, probably one shift in ten feels normal

had been driving perfectly normal up until today.

(i had a new clutch, slave, accumulator and flywheel installed approx 500 miles ago) car is a 2001 and has 25k miles

i called my indy shop and dropped it off this morning, they are taking a look first thing monday morning, i'm going on a 1500 mile 6 state rally thursday afternoon so hopefully will have the car back by then

do power steering and clutch share fluids ?

seems too much of a coincidence that both have problems within 2 minutes of each other

Yes the power steering pressure is used to relief the effort on the clutch pedal.... Your problem seems to come from a faulty power steering pump. Let us know the final result. Be very careful if you got a leak of oil. Power steering use Pentosin which is highly flammable....
