Interesting thing we learned about the 044 pumps though, when you bench test and reach a certain pressure, each pump has a relief (purge) valve that will dump back into the tank (or the bench on this case). I dont recall what that pressure was, but if my memory serves, it was quite high.

Is anyone using a 044 as a boost pump outside the tank? Would be interested in any experiences (mine are both in tank, just curious to those with an external).

My external 044's(and I know of no other design) do not have a dump or purge valve. They have a "check" valve on them, perhaps your thinking of that?

JETmn is infamous around these partsJETmn is infamous around these parts
I run one external also (different application) and it does not put any fuel back in to the tank or onto the ground in that case. Maybe you just caused enough pressure to make an o-ring lose its seal?

Interesting, maybe it is the check valve that I am referring to.

Sorry to hear about your 044 failure prodigy, any idea what went bad?

I am not entirely sure but I will be sure to get a fuel pressure gauge and keep an eye on base pressure. With one pump not working it was down to 40psi when I normally run 43.5psi. We spent all evening messing with it, but its figured out now

Porsche 991 Diesel???

Not yet but I tell you.. there will be some serious pressure to start using diesel engines in real sports cars... I will be standing in line with my deposit.

Don't forget a filter was on backwards hardly letting any fuel pass by. I'm sure that put a huge strain on the pump.

You should consider a pressure sensor and just put a dumby light on the dash when the pressure drops or you lose all pumps it lights up.

In road racing, this is very common for oil pressure(or lack of). Normally it is as big of lamp as you can get so, when the pressure drops, you see the light and lift. I do this for knock sensing, oil pressure and fuel pump status.
