Actually, early 02s were available with a pccb delete option. Because of the typically bad gen 1 PCCB setup that was delivered on these cars, some owners (like myself) opted to delete the ceramics to avoid issues. Some people have switched over time because the cost of the ceramics to replace them is so high.

Upon close examination of the pics on Ebay I would say the front end has had some paint work and the overall condition is Fair+ to Good-. Just my two cents for what it's worth.

Ahhh good to know. Interesting, I didn't know that you could do the delete as an option. But like I said, the GT2 did come with PCCB stock, therefore it's not on the "Options" list. The window sticker I'd assume would show the PCCB Delete as an Option I'd think. But that's really good info about it, thanks for sharing.

I don't see any indications of paint work, ie. bad gaps, hazing etc. maybe your eye is better trained than mine. What do you see that makes you think it's been repainted? Also, photos are very tough to tell paintwork unless it's blatantly obvious like bad color matching etc. But on a black car (especially Basalt since it's a metallic color) which projects so many reflections, it's really tough to tell.

Just a hunch. I am an automobile appraiser and General Sales Manager for a BMW dealership. Trained eye indicates small movement in fender mounting bolts and larger than normal gap on front parking lamp. Not sure about the pic of the front window molding? Also notice the lower front spoiler is not flush on the right side of car, left side in pic. Again, just my two cents

Thanks for the info willie, that is the sort of stuff I was wondering about. After so many auctions with no bids, I am thinking his pricing, while reasonable, could be enticed to come down a bit.

That's a good looking car.

The one thing I noticed is that the gaps where the front bumper meets the headlights is off a bit. There's a bigger gap on the driver's side.

That might not mean anything other than the light was removed/re-installed and not done so quite spot on.

Spoke with the owner today, finally.

I have been working in the bush out of contact.

The owner is a tuner, owns a shop in the Portland area. He hasn't done any of the tuning himself.

Car has been tracked (it was the Illinois owner) Car went through a buyer's agent for one of the owners. Sold at auction by widow of one of the 4 owners. etc. etc.

Tranny was replaced at 13K.

The paint has been re-shot mainly due to paint chips from the track use.

I am still seriously considering this purchase.

It will be my first Porsche car…well, one that I own, anyways. Have driven several. Just haven't owned them.

I've been into the Subaru WRX/STI scene up here in AK which is huge. What can I say, they're cheap, work great and are reliable. Currently stage 3, with a fully dialed suspension. I've won the Rally championships, won the fastest class, set fast time of day, placed on the podium at several autocrosses. Been long involved in motocross and roadracing motorcycles (championships there too). Have lots of toys (3 Aprilias, 3 MX race bikes, etc.), just looking for…..something special to ignite my fires again. Looking for a new level of experiences. Somebody be the voice of reason for me….please.

I spoke with him about the driver side panels….he says that it must be the light in the photos because there is nothing wrong with them. More photos are on the way.
I will finance a portion of this vehicle…my credit union is offering me 3.3% up to 60 months.

It will be a toy…used on sunny weekends….I usually pay cash for toys but at that rate….let it ride.

Pitfalls, issues……….Looking for any and all advice.

FYI those are not the factory GT3 style wheels. They are OEM 997 GT3 RS wheels. Theyre nice widths and offsets for a GT2. Great wheels, they look awesome on that car. I would just switch to black centercaps with a colored Porsche crest or GT2 script.

That's one hell of a car for that money. Even if it was tracked, chances are nothing is going to go wrong if it's not wrong now... i would think.
GT2s are very special cars indeed.
Go For It !!!
