Tech Art 996 Turbo Converted to GT2
I just saw a beautiful 996 Turbo converted to a full GT2, thought I would share. It is a proper GT2 conversion with full GT2 front suspension, boosting 750hp.
It is in the Aug issue of Auto Eclectic Magazine: http://autoeclectic.com/august
Article is on page 108, there is also a 996 Turbo they tested on track starts on page 28
Mag is a good read. Let me know what you think.

All the converting in the world won't make a TT a GT2.

Agreed. You can make a Turbo faster, handle better, and brake stronger than a GT2, but that doesn't make it a GT2. (This coming from a guy who drives a Turbo.) I'll bet the guy put a GT2 badge on the back, too, because there are no pics of the decklid. It reminds me of all the M 328is that I used to see out there. By the way, this post seems like a shill for this guy's cheap web site.

Its a TT with a Techart kit, not a GT2 or GT2 "Conversion". Magazine looks like a high school project.

Not sure if a Porsche purists would have combined half a dozen tuners' modifications and called it a "true GT2." And a note to the editor - it is typically good etiquette to capitalize the first letter of a manufacturer's name. Spell check is also helpful.

I listed it as a Tech Art as it has a full Tech Art body kit. Also I believe the Purist Turbo refers to the fact that is rear wheel drive like the original 911 turbo.
As far as the conversion it has GT2 front brakes and GT2 suspension so what else is different from a real GT2? I am no expert.
I found the mag and showed it to a few forum member's who suggested I post it here to share. These guys attend the cars and coffee in Irvine. There was a post with photos of all of them on the freeway a few weeks back.
Sorry the mag is not up to Porsche standards. What makes it look like a High School project? I know it is no Excellence or Evo, but I thought it look pretty good.

I think cheers to the guy who did it.
I will agree with Shaun that it is no GT2, however, it comes close and I think he achieved his goal.
High school project, no way.

This is just a sample of all the components that would need to be swapped to even begin the conversion.
If you take a look at my sig, I'm all to familiar with the term "conversion." I may have spent $50K+ with Ruf, but I still call it a conversion.

I agree it is not a "true GT2", but I think the term was used as some guys just pull the drive shafts and call it a GT2. I completely see your point.
