While I haven't popped a K&N in my Porsche, I have tried them in other cars and bikes. Sure, I could feel an increase in the intake noise and, on some of the older cars, feel an improvment in the way that my car responded. Personally, I don't feel that a K&N filter is going to liberate any more horsepower than the factory filter. I don't want to say that it's an amlost psychological effect because I have no prior experience and haven't ridden in your car.
My feelings, and they are strictly mine, is that a filter in a Porsche is not going to add any measureable improvment by just replacing the stock filter. If it's part of an ecu change and an exhaust, then, yes, it will form part of a package that is tuned together in order to produce more power.
It's your car and $40, so it's up to you.

It is definately noticeable that when you get off the throttle, the revs fall quicker than they did with the stocker. I have noticed it on a few cars. I am not saying there is necessarily an hp increase, but throttle response, to me, seems to improve. That is an important benefit, imo

I think you may have missed reading my second post, right after my first one... I think i explain it clearly

when i get time i will actually dyno the car to see if there really is an hp increase. how much are the bmc air filter..?

ill see if i can do a air filter shoot out since. a 95.00 dyno pull gives u 3 runs. ill do it first with stock, k&n and finally bmc

we'll finally see what happens and this will be in a totally stock TT well almost totally stock i have hyperboost diverter valves from the Porsche Factory..

If you are really interested in increasing air flow, get an FVD Aluminum Intake Plenum and forget squabling over air filters.

Can't one of you techies with a shop just take the standard intake with both filters and a differential pressure transmitter and produce a graph for the rest of us?
