evan, about 2 years ago, i saw a yellow gt2 at the porsche dealer in west palm, or palm beach. they had an asking price of $279,000-they bought it from someone in california, who sold it upon delivery to them. talk about a bath-i wonder what they lost on that speculation-i saw it sitting there, 10 months later, for 100 k less.

I heard that Porsche is only making 148 '04 TT coupes, Champion says they are only getting 3 all year. Hopefully this will help harden the market for TT's.

evan, maybe that one. but not on the yellow one that i saw. i spoke with the same salesman, before and after (he had a germanesque accent), and he told me of their impending bath.

my local dealer still has 3 03 TT coupe. as far as i know, no more 04 coupe come in & the only one they got is pre-sold.
on those 3 they have now, the price is pretty hard. the manager told me they are gambling on those 3 because there is no more car coming in anymore.

20c4s-the thing to do was to lease one last january, when the oversupply was most severe and the demand was the lowest. 39 month leases for $1300-1400 were all around, with no money down. timing was everything.

A speed yellow 2001 6 speed TT with 6,700 (or so) miles just sold on ebay for $84K. That seems like one of the best deals I can recall. I plan to wait for a low mileage 2002 cobalt blue TT 6 speed to pop up in the first quarter of '04. One tempting thought is to pick up a lease on an 01 for about $850 a month and let the finance company eat the depreciation. They haven't yet figured out how soft the resale is on these. The only downside is that you lose most of your investment in mods when you turn the car in and switch to something else.

Kevin, carefull leasing an 01. Make sure the lease term does not exceed the warranty expiration on the car. If someone took delivery of their 01 in say November 2000, the warranty will expire in November 2004. You definately do not want an out of warranty car while leasing.
