I never thought I'd say this.....

Agree with you 100%. I don't work for evoms...just have one. Search.
Back to the thread now.
I think the driving a slow car fast is key. The Jason Bourne movie (first one) action scene with the older mini, to me, is just amazing.....

The thing is... What's fun is driving near the limit and pushing a car. And the simple fact is You can do that easier in a car like a mini compared to a 996TT due to the lower speeds required; on the street that is.

Go to a road track and you'll see the enormus different between the 996tt and the E46,then you are going to say how fun is to drive the 996tt.

I sold my Mini Cooper "S" once I purchased the 996TT. The Mini was a blast and very fun on the track. It has been said that it's fun to dirve a slow car fast. The Mini wasn't slow but it wasn't fast. Great handling but the front wheel drive was a little boring. The 996TT is much more fun in my opinion and a little scary as well. Great drift car as well. Wouldn't go back

This thread reminded me of my Mr2 supercharge. It got no power but light. It did not go anywhere fast with 160hp. But I had much fun with it. Currently with mod 996t, try to stay under speed limit feels very slow. Sometime I floor it for short burst, it always brings me to the speed of loosing my license. You really have to track it when you want to have fun in this car. I am jealous of guys with Autobahn. Why don't we have one here?

having owned the 3 cars mentioned here (E46 M3 competition, Mini cooper works and now the 996 GT2) I can say that for daily driving the mini is certianly a lot of fun and full of character. but for the track, it's like brining a pocket knife to a fight when what you really need is the a ninja sword

exactly - which is why the OP posted that the mini "feels" more fun - easy to drive hard but not really do anything.
the TT will do the same w/o breaking a sweat....so you have to drive the TT, 100mph through the mountains (try downhill from jacumba to ocotillo) - IN THE RAIN to get a thrill...
that is - until you're USED to doing that 2-3x a week....lol

I know that road, hmm, I may have to head out there soon!

Another to the Mini!
Here is a pic of the wifes s cooper. It has the upgraded pully, larger injectors,GIAC tune, miltech exhaust, koni adjustables & 18" rims w/225 rubber on all corners.

She gets more thumbs up than the GT2.

Agreed to a certain aspect. My brother has a mini and I've driven them on several occasions. I also used to DD a 2004 VW R32 and that thing you can toss like it's nobodys business !
In comparison it just feels more fun because it's not planted as firmly on the streets as this car. I can do 75mph onramps in this one and it feels the same or less than doing it at 50mph in the R32.
I will say the understeer is rediculous on the 911 though. A problem minis don't really have hahah.

The Porsche has been described as a 'speed appliance', and that's ruined it for a lot of people that want 'passion' and 'thrills'. Those same people would also think driving a Veyron to it's top speed would be a boring exercise.
Maybe it's just me, but speed is still speed. The safer I feel at those higher speeds, the better...

Because of people like you that feel a 160hp MR2 isn't fast enough. The majority of people would start getting 'drunk' on the excess of power, and end up killing themselves eventually because they're in way over their heads. It ruins it for those of us that could handle it...
...
...
BTW: It would not matter eitheir Talon or Escort. Nothing should be pushed though handling limit on street. Drive very fast ===> Track.
