USP Motorsports | TiAL Alpha 3071's Billet turbo system dyno results!!
For those of you who weren’t following the original thread (get out from under your rock), here is the link click. (Cliffnotes: Upgrading a customer’s 996TT to the TiAL Billet Alpha 3071 turbo system.) The car already has a USP Motorsports E85 ethanol fuel system conversion. During the upgrade, this 996 also received USP Motorsports intercooler upgrades, and silicone boost hose kit. Here is a thread I posted of what the car made previously on its old K16/16G’s after the E85 conversion - click. (Cliffnotes: 552rwhp and 619tq.) Right now, the car is still heavily restricted by the whimpy 2.5” catted Tubi exhaust system, and factory turbo inlet hoses, so those upgrades are in store for the near future. I’m anticipating an easy 70+ whp gain after changing those out to a set of USP custom turbo inlets pipes (I'm pretty certain these alone will put the car over 700whp ), and USP 3” performance exhaust (which will be in production very soon).
Finally, onto the results. After a little time and tuning on the dyno in conjunction with Tony @ EPL, we were able to put down 669whp, and 607wtq. The reason the red graph spooled up a bit quicker is because I was adjusting the gain on the electronic boost controller. It was a back to back pull so it was a little heat soaked, which is why it didn’t make the same max power. Boost was 1.63 BAR. Overall, I’m happy with this turbo system, but I can’t accurately compare them to my K24/18G’s because of the stock turbo inlets and restrictive exhaust.
Here are a few pics of the car in the shop, and the dyno graph.. VIDEO COMING SOON.
Clean fitting intercooler to silicone hose, to turbo..

at lower boost we had a problem with them due to boost spiking it might be the exhaust...that was gain on 5% which is lowest set boost @11 psi....it still spiked as I turned the boost up it got better but started to lag more cause of the inlets we comfirmed that on the dyno

Chris you mentioned changing the turbo intake piping for better flow, hard to tell from the pics but does this car have a stock intake box? Will changing the intake piping work fine with a stock intake box or would a dual snorkel type flow better?? Let me know when you have an opening for mine, I have a small list of work to complete plus fine tuning. Nice work by the way!
