Hey Shiv... welcome to the board! I used to be on the Miata forum with you (Bill, Corky, etc) starting about 7~8 yrs ago when we were both building crazy Turbo Miataes. I eventually had Benson's Machine Shop in Cali build up my Carillo/JE block and Corky Bell of San Antonio custom build my turbo setup to the tune 380rwhp. Heck, I still remember the pix you once posted of your road rash when you flipped that Miata! Since then, you've built quiet a tuning reputation... congratulations and welcome!

This thread is a beauty...you pull into a restaurant, a parking spot...a stop light... you are in a Mitsubishi Evo IIIV OE X OR XII. 40 HP or 400 hp, lets realize the point. Can anybody here relate to this rediculous comparison? The stiching of the string that wraps my addidas sneaker beats the best chunk of plastic that breaks of the Mistsubishi. That is why they are going BK. Why is this thread even discussing rice burners? No offense to the high schoolers that put sub woofers and exhaust on these POS's from allowance dollars, buts let's not dilute the quality topics of true cars that usually brush this forum huh?

But if I were looking to spend ~$30k on a sports car, an Evo would have to be considered. Performance/dollar is staggering. (I actually ended up buying a S2k instead for that price point.)
My biggest gripe against the Evo was the econo-car interior and the fact that it's AWD system is actually mostly FWD til it looses traction (similar to TT/R32, opposite of Porsche). However, it has set very impressive laptimes during track testing, so I suppose somehow, it all works.
Still, for me, I'd take a STi over an Evo just for it's better refinement... and I'd take the S2k over both, simply because it makes me feel like Schuey at the track.
And when it comes to Porsches, I know deep inside, I'm a closet GT3 driver for that very reason! I hope I never get to drive a GT3, because I'd sure miss my 996T...

There is one thing no one has brought up. I live in Michigan where it snows! I use to have a SUV to drive in the winter but that got boring. So I bought a WRX Sti 300 hp , all wheel drive, BBS rims, Brembo brakes, etc... I put snow tires on it and it goes great in the snow. Then when the snow is off the roads it is still fun to play with. Now in the summer the tt get's driven most of the time. And I like tracking my tt it is a ton of fun. I have not even tracked the Sti yet.
Anyhow for those of us that have winter weather to deal with the Sti makes a great winter beater!

I noticed that it's usually American Porsche owners who bash the Evo and Sti's, whereas the overseas Porsche owners have nothing but the utmost respect for them.
Evo's pieces of ****? I wouldn't call a car that has back to back WRC wins and a rich racing heritage a piece of ****.

And we wonder why Porsche owners here have such a "*****" perception...
