18G's too slow......now what?

From what I read, you're running stock (GT2) exhaust. That's gotta go before you begin any talk of anything else. Then make sure your wastegates are set properly.
You have plenty of turbo already.

Call Markski or Todd at Protomotive. You should think about installing a blow through intake system and larger intercoolers. I have the Protomotive setup on my car. You will not be disappointed with either of these guys. They are both first class in what they do!!

Honestly, I think it depends on what else you plan on adding. If you're going to throw the kitchen sink at it; full blow through intake, Ford Maf, intercoolers, injectors, secondary fuel pump and meth then I would upgrade your turbos to the 20g. It's not much more money and you're gaining substantially more power on the top end. You're going to need a retune anyway and you may as well take advantage of your components. However, if you're only interested in injectors and meth stick with your 18g. The 18g do not require all of the supporting mods that the 20gs do.

The (2) 20G cars that I know of;
Ben Moores, and Mexicant (local white infamous white Proto car formerly owned by
Tulsa/Bobby) are very fast cars (mid to high 130's trap).
Considering my 18G car trapped 134+ and did 190 mph at Tmile and Ben's car went
200 mph at Tmile...the 20G's make a BIG DIFFERENCE.
Ben Moores car is not excessively modded (simple bolt on stuff)!

Marty I was at both runs, yours & Ben's. If you had the tailwind Ben had on that day you would of been alot closer to 200 mph. If I remember correctly on your day you had a pretty good headwind.

First I would like to see what ponies are left on the table with the 18G's. Injectors, more aggressive/custom tune. Let's see where Tony lands on this one.
Current exhaust is Fabspeed Gen1. Never been in love with its drone. Would an upgrade to a 3" system (with sexier tone) yield noticeable results?
Regards,
Jane

Jane,
We have a beautiful sounding 3" cross-flow system that I think you would be extremely pleased with the sound, however, in my opinion, the gains over the fab gen 1 would be minimal, as that is a pretty high flowing system. The change would be more of sound preference. IMO, the cross-flow design sounds the best by far on these turbo cars and reduces drone over conventional designs. You can PM me if you have any questions and I would be happy to discuss our performance and sound options with you.

Mine won't be either...

yes he does.. he's running a Ford.

It does not have to be a blow thru set-up...an enlarged OEM style intake system with 2.5" IC's, 2.5" hoses, 2.5" Y-Pipe, etc. will do fine - either system will work. Look at all the record setting runs by EVOMS with their hard pipe intake kit and large, high flowing turbos...it just has to be done right.
