The aftermath of power shifting 3rd... (Warning LOTS of pictures)

Man that's some carnage. Sucks about the breakage, all in the name of going faster though.
So, just to be clear, it wasn't the power, or the speed shifting that necessarily broke it, it was because the gear wasn't fully engaged when you let the clutch out, hence some nice metal/metal action at full power? I guess that really makes a strong case for a shifter solution for this car. Sometimes I will notice that there is some "extra" room to push the shifter before it fully goes into a gear. Ugh...the 996TT factory shifter has to be the worst I have ever driven! It just feels so sloppy and not confidence inspiring to shift fast. I'm debating a B&M or 997SSK for a more "direct" and precise shift. I'm also used to cars where the shifter basically goes right into the gearbox without cables. So nice!

I guess what makes me "upset" about this is that it broke on 13.X psi peak and just me trying to have some fun in the car. My 2nd to 3rd is my worst shift sometimes, so I guess it was practice. This time I may have practiced it a little to hard LOL!!
I haven't said much about this, other than to local friends. I wanted to keep it quiet till I got pictures of everything and knew exactly what broke. Only thing I really knew that was bad was third gear was non-existant, stuff was ratteling around in the transmission case, and that when I went to load it on the trailer (a week later) the shifter took a TON of force to put it in gear.
I'll talk to G-Box and see if they could do a little write up as to what exactly I broke. Other than the obvious LOL!!!

I've only power shifted mine 3 times. The 3rd time I ended up breaking this cheap plastic bit that left me stranded at 2 in the morning...

Stan at Gboxweb.com cracked open my transmission and he said it looked like the car only has maybe 15k miles or so on it. He said the internals were immaculate. I told him to rebuild it anyway as I'm at 83k miles now. These transmission are built well if I had to base it on that alone. Or maybe I'm just lucky.

Well Chris, you definitely did a good job on destroying it. Everyone has been impressed with your carnage and I am glad we could help making the power to create the aforeposted pictures. The transmission is fully upgraded now and it will be much more difficult to cause the damage you caused now! The reinforced parts along with the LSD will be a sight to see next time you hit the drag strip or the Mexican highway.
