switching to E85, any cons ?
like the title states gentlemen , it only makes sence since we have it everywhere now . and in the long run it will save me alot of money since all i run is ms 109 in the car now .
so i know all the pros , but i would like to know any cons(besides having to change my fuel system) , if there are any.
thanks.

YEs you will be changing your plugs every 2500 miles... same goes for meth.... believe it or not but that is the truth.... so you save on gas but get raped on plug change...

What if you go on a road trip and there are no E85 stations along the way? Recently did a group run to Atlantic City and that would have been a major issue for us in NJ that is....
How many miles do you expect to get from a full tank vs what you are getting now on 93?

You burn through it twice as fast..ie, less mileage...if you care...other than that, if you have access to it, go for it...bascially bigger injectors and a retune?

AFAIK, you shouldn't have to re-do your whole fuel systems as every modern fuel system is ethanol mix compatible. About the only thing you would need to, besides retuning the ECU, is to do is upsize your injectors and (perhaps, depending on power output), upgrade your fuel pump. We converted a Mitsu Evo to e85 for Mitsubishi North America several years back and the conversion was relatively simple. And the car was very strong. It was like running on race gas on a cold winter day. And fuel economy takes a 30-40% it. Rough idle at cold start can also be an issue if not tuned carefully. And the interior did smell like Vodka if the engined idled for too long. Luckily i never got pulled over while driving it.

I don't think he is concerned about road trips, as the OP mentioned right off the bat he runs 109. I don't know very many gas stations that carry 109, maybe airports lol.
Once I finish my corvette up I'll be starting a little turbo E85 build.

Neither have I and we have built and tuned MANY e85 cars.

JS bear , thats something that has crossed my mind , and would like to hear more on ,
Alan , im not all that worried about that , when i take trips i ussualy dont take this car anyway, and availability around here is good. as for the miles , i dont know and it doesnt really concern me, i run ms 109 in it 98% of the time, so even i go through two tanks of e85 as oppose to one ms 109 its still way worth it .
btw , were you up at the pan ams on saturday ? my buddies all got gold.
Shiv, thanks for the info im not entirely sure what all needs to be changed im waiting to hear back from Todd. i know for sure huge injectors possibky fuel pump?
mark, i never heard of this either , with any car or meth , i had meth on my evo no problem , and everyone else i know hasnt had a issue either...

I've read elsewhere that E85 can vary throughout the calendar year. I wish I had more specifics, I know the ECU can adapt and pull timing, but the whole idea of running E85 is to run more boost as well. If you get a lower grade formulation during winter months, are there any concerns at higher boost levels ? Perhaps USP or EPL may have some feedback on this.
