well lesson is, pressure test the IC's yourself even if they are secans.

Heck, all I did was put the shop vac on one end with a rag to seal it and my hand on the other end and I could clearly hear the noise of air wooshing out of the IC through the cores.

Whats the likely hood that the stock factory units suffer from the same leakage issues?

good question. I have a spare set, I can check. I also have a set of GT2's I can check. Earl can check his knew ones as well.

chances are - they leak. tabs that hold the end tanks on tend to loosen a bit under higher boost and create leaks. i have not tested mine - but my friend with a Leagcy GT which has a top mount intercooler with plastic end tanks like ours had isses with the stock unit leaking at higher boost.

I've checked the new ones (997.2) and my old GT2/997.1 cores when they went on. At just over 25 psi, they held steady for 5 minutes, at which point I released the pressure. In both instances the cores were lightly used (<500 miles) before I got them. Even though I haven't had issues, I always pressure check from the turbos whenever I mess with stuff in that area. Particularly important as these cars have some age on them now.
