a local tire guy mentioned KUMHO Ecsta sport for $245. What else will work in this application and how many miles should I be getting out of those Michelins?

I am biased, I don't care about how many miles. I care about how many Gs. For
the street, I would go with the Yokohama Advan Neovas, unless you're getting
set to do a lot of sub-40 degree driving... I do understand that some folks need
to do a lot of commuting and need the tire to last as long as possible. In that
case I have no knowledge to share...

I tried Re11s, they were ok on the street, but terrible on the track.

Do you have the stock Turbo S Cab size (295's) for the rear?

Any reason not to go with the wider 315's on your stock rims?

I think the standard size works well at 18 inch and with our AWD. The GT2 needs the extra rubber in the rear.

i tried the Kumhos x2 and came away thoroughly unimpressed. Way less sticky at normal speeds and downright scary at speed.

They lose traction suddenly.

I'm switching back to conti sport contacts - WELL worth the extra $100/tire

315 30 18 is GT2 size. The front needs to match the rotation of the rear, so it should be 235/40 18 and not the standard 225/40 18 the OP probably has on the car.

This is correct and should not be overlooked. Do not go to the 315 in the rear unless you change the front at the same time.

(The problem of course is that you rarely need fronts and rears at the same time! )
