Car & Driver didn't need to bring up VR Alexander in an article talking about a dodge viper. As far as bringing up details of his personal life, there's two sides to every story and now we only get to hear one of them.

I agree in that this read like two separate articles mashed together and would have been more interesting as separate pieces, with a bit more research done. Having said that, in at least a few of the charges of malfeasance, he had his chance to tell his story in court and wound up with significant judgements against him. There aren't really two sides to those stories. May he rest in peace and, more importantly, don't let any of this tarnish the futures of the loved ones he left behind who, by seemingly all accounts, had no idea what may have been going on.

An old saying has it; about the dead, no bad things to be told. Car & Driver journalist is an idiot to be bringing his financial background info into the crash story. As a journalist and an editor myself I would never let him run the story in such direction, especially in a car magazine. Relevance? Pathetic journalism indeed, far more appropriate for the yellow press. There is only one lesson to be learned here; road is a *****, we get used to the power and speed but when things go wrong, it’s a deadly game and the tarmac has yet to lose. Screw hillclimbs, take it to the track or leave yourself a 20% safety margin.

In my view the C&D article regarding the shady background of Alexander Djordjevic was legitimately addressing a matter of interest to our community of car enthusiasts. The depth and detail of the information regarding Djordjevic's questionable activities provided in a car blog (I believe links to the site are not permitted) is compelling and not likely slander and, for anyone willing to find that blog, a very interesting read.

I do not understand people like you, I explain nicely and you have to negate. Are you a journalist? I bet not, so bad journalism period. When someone dies in an accident you do not write about his financial aspect of life at the time. Story for another article at a latter stage perhaps. Not cool!

My thought is that even if the info is correct (debatable), this was not the story to discuss it. The article was about their attempt at the event in a Viper. Now, if the story was on forum freaks who appear to live way beyond their means, and how people can be fooled by appearances on the internet......then it might be relevant. Can't say I've been impressed with C&D for a while now anyway.

Say what?!?!

What words do you use when you are being 'not nice'?

We'll disagree I guess. As a majorly "public" public figure, the backstory on VR is a legitimate journalistic story.... you don't like it, or don't think it belongs in car and driver, why not buy the magazine and install your own editor?
