Having driven a new camero, owned a normally aspirated 996 and now own a 996tt. There is a world of difference between all three. Porsche is on a totally different level from the Camero and the 996tt is on a totally different level from the 996NA. Do yourself a favor and go drive a 996tt. You will immediatley want to upgrade from your camero. The new cameros have decent power but even your Camero SS won't be able to keep up with a stock 996tt either in straight line speed or on a track. I owned a 996NA before getting the 996tt and it was a great car as well but not in the same caliber with regard to performance as the 996tt. The engine in the 996tt is the proven powerplant that is a direct decendent of the GT1. Only the TT, GT2, and GT3 have this powerplant. You will frequently hear the term "bullet proof" when refering to the 996tt powerplant. I have heard of very few engine failures and most of these were due to improperly setup modified cars. The 996tt is an awesome car. You won't be dissapointed! Do your homework and get all the information you can. This webstie is a great tool for that information as well as several other resources.
