I've running a bit more front camber and setup the rear H&R bar for less under-steer. I figure fat fronts will help a bit as well. That's why I want to go with the 265/35s..

ARD: what size rims were you running the 245 on? Do you happen to know the offsets? I'm contemplating some 9" x 43 offset
9"... not sure of the offset, away from home. Custom HRE fitment. With the 9" I can mount a 235/40 or a 265/35... I'll see if I can find it when I get back Wed...

man, be careful here. there is a huge difference between brands, so it will vary. You can't make a blanket statement. For example I am currently running Nitto INVO's. The mfg data says that they are 26 inches in diameter. I measured them to be 25.7 inches. Front and back are nearly identical however so I am good to go

+1 you HAVE to look at the overall diameter for the specific brand as all tires in the same profile are not the same height, nor the same ratio compared to other tires in the same brand.

Agree to both posts above.

My 'interpretations' above should not be taken as definitive answers, but rather instructive as to how anyone can find the answer themselves: Look up the specs for the SPECIFIC tire model at tirerack.com, find the size, find the revs per mile.

ari's final post illustrates this rather well.

UPDATE: I measured the Circumference of the tires with the cold pressures I should be running. The rears (315mm) are 80.375" and the fronts are 80". Closer then the chart I was using on line by a bunch.

I'm using Nitto NT01's as my track tires in the 245/40/18 and 315/30/18 sizes.

according to nitto specs your tires are only .2 inches off each other in diameter, so you should be fine.

z99 is infamous around these parts
When you are looking at tire diameter on Tire rack, also look at wheel width they are using. If you are running wider wheels, your actual diameter will be less.

Anyone know how much this actually amounts to???

I've thought about it, but geometrically it can't be much- typically you are within 1/2" of the "measured width" they use to publish revs/mile or rolling diameter.

Just curious

What about replacing tires? I saw an ad online for a car that 50% in the front and new rears...that alone would account for a decent size difference. Does that represent a problem?

I'm new to the AWD game, so I want to know if measuring tires on potential cars is something I should do.

I was looking at the same, seems 235 fronts are a closer match but it doesn't seem to far off for 245's

Ard: I am anxiously waiting the offset of your 9" fronts. If you can't figure it out or if it's not stamped, I'll settle for backspacing

Thanks

I know.

I could not find it on the invoice or paperwork, so I've emailed the place I bought it but response.

I'll pull a wheel and measure it Friday or Sat, OK?
