Obviously slightly heavier, what about tire sizes, fitment when car is lowered, on track performance, etc...Thanks

Good question, I'll be interested to see the answers to this myself. I do know that when I put wider tires on my stock rims, 245/40/18's front and 315/30/18's rear, the car felt much more planted.

I prefer the 11'' rear rim because it is lighter as mentioned and allows you more tire choices. With the 11'' rear rim you can run the 295/30/18 MPSC and other tires in that size and also run the 315/30/18 that other R compounds are available in.

Relative to what size front tire? What kind of on track performance, drag, road race? Ultimately wider tire makes the contact patch wider and produces more lateral grip. Skinnier, taller tires make the contact patch longer and will be more beneficial for drag racing. That's the uber simplified version of it.

a 12" wheel will properly support a 315 tire without pinching it. The weight delta shouldn't be noticeable.

If you read up on the tire specs it will tell you if it would work better with a particular recommended rim width. Most 315's will get a greater contact patch and grip angle with a 12in wheel. I agree the weight is not an issue on any good wheel. The reason a factory GT-2 wheel is heavier is mostly due to the fact that they are not hollow like the TT wheels.

I'm running 315 Nitto's on 12" wheels. With aggressive lowering, I'm getting some rubbing against inner fender wells front/rear even after they've been rolled. Depends on the offset of the wheel and rate on rear springs. Mine were done custom several years ago in order to clear a large compressor housing on the driver's side. With more offset to the inside, I would be good on all 4 corners but I don't intend to buy another set of wheels. I don't remember what the offset is. Raising the ride height a bit would solve the problem and I will probably do that over the winter.

I tracked the 315's on stock 11" rims all season and had very even wear and no problems.

paulycw is infamous around these parts
I had a set of Fikse 12" wheels and it filled out the wheel well and was basically flush with the rear fender. It looked much better aesthetically, although your selection of tires decreases. Should you decide to go with 315 in the back you need to change out the front tires to 235 to match the rotation between front and rear.

on a 12" a 295.30.18 street tire will appear very stretched. trust me!

if you use hoosiers on a 12" a 295 fits just right.. i think its mainly down to the sidewalls

i plan to go with 315 in the rear next time i need tires.. i just dont like that i need to run spacers and roll the fenders..

im running 245.35.18 on the front without any rubbing, the extra rubber really makes a difference.

Any other opinions on this? I'm thinking of buying Forgestar F14 wheels (18") and am trying to decide between 11" and 12" rears,

Had the same question too. Look at the tire(s) you plan on using. For me the R888 will work given Toyo's specs either for 295 or 315 using a 11" rim. The 12" will fit only the 305's or 335's for the 996TT

I'm running 11" rears with 315s and have no issues with uneven wear and the grip is as much as I would ever want. No rubbing issues and no rolled fenders here. Very happy with the setup.
