My list is short but eclectic

---1962 VW bug: Not my own car but the one I learned to drive in when I was a 6th grader.
---1954 Plymouth station wagon: Split window, 3 on the tree, got my first ticket in it too (speeding, and going through an unauthorized area at a high rate of speed, hah!) Fortunately it was only the MP’s at the China Lake NOTS.
--1962 Chevy Impala SS (327): A bullet proof classic Stolen in 1976 on Vermont in LA and wrapped around a telephone pole in the ensuing police chase. Bought it for $500 and wished I still had it.
--1968 Dodge Coronet (318): Blew it up on I-5 near Castaic, put in a 383. Was my replacement for the Impala
--1968 Citroen ID19: Most comfortable ride I have ever experienced. Great to run through deep water (remember the wet CA winter in 1977?) because of variable ride height and inboard brakes. Was money sucking SOB though. The suspension, steering and brakes operated off the one hydraulic pump, which made for an interesting experience when the pump went out as I was getting to the curve section of the Pasadena freeway. Sold it for $500 after my college roommate forgot to latch the aluminum hood and it blew open on the Santa Monica freeway)
--1959 Corvette (red with white insets, 350hp 327): Beautiful car. Sold it -- my wife felt guilty about it for years. Used this to good advantage when I bought the TT.
--1983 Dodge Ram D50 (Mitsubishi): Tough little 4WD. Was replacement for the Corvette – geez, what was I thinking! Wish I had that one back too.
--1984 Toyota Camry: Boring but functional
--1987 Toyota 4Runner (Stolen out of the driveway in Woodland Hills, after the Northridge quake)
--1992 Toyota MR2 Turbo: A fun little ride
--1990 GMC Jimmy: Replaced the 4runner and was a total POS
--1999 Lincoln Navigator: Automotive version of comfort food.
--2002 VW Passat w 4motion: Moved to MI and wanted the all wheel drive for winter
--2002 996TT: Cashed in my wife’s guilt over selling the Corvette
--2004 Suburban 2500 with Quadrasteer: Dog mobile and tow vehicle for future track car
--Next ... either 997 based GT3 or a new Cup car

I am one of the old farts on this list at age 50.

Now, let's subtract all the cars that you didn't buy with your own hard earned money.

Exactly what i was thinking!!

Hey Kiddos,

There's nothing to be ashamed of to be fortunate enough to have daddy buy u these toys. Really. Any one of us would love to be in your shoes when we were 20 or younger. It's way cool.

However, however, when working adults (like your parents) list their car history here, they are doing it with a sense of pride. It's a reflection of how far they've come since the struggling or student days.

Funny thing is I don't know why did KPV posted his age in the first place. What does it have to do with car history? He must have tried to make a statement by doing that. It shows his accomplishment, not his parents, and how he got here. It's more than showing his taste in cars. Afterall, when you're struggling, your taste have to take a back seat, way back. You can almost read into his and others' life, not just their parents', by their car history.

So for some 20 yr old, or even 30, to come along and post a list of 100k cars that's longer than their driving years, it's almost a mockery to some of the "working class" members here. I wouldn't want my kids someday to compare their car history to some 40 yr old for example. We're not talking about baseball cards here.

There is nothing more satisfying than to buy your own house someday and stock it with your dream cars, all with money, lots of it, YOU earned from "strangers". Strangers usually don't give you $200k or more a year to spend easily unless you're really worth it.

So bottomline is do give respect to working adults who actually did purchase all those cars with their own money, just as you would with your parents. They EARNED it. You BENEFITTED.

Maybe some day you'll leave the nest and learn how challenging, and rewarding, it is to make it on your own!

In the meantime, do count your blessings and smile with every mile
Couldn't have said it better myself....
