03 gt2 vs. 997tt. Help.
Here I go again, major sellers remorse after selling my 02 996tt and I am looking to get back into either car. The car will be a weekend driver, limited track time if any, probably none. I need educational help on deciding which way to go. The gt2 is a major super car the originally sold for $200,000. And I can pick it up for say $80,000. The 997tt an 07 or 08 I can get for $75,000-$80,000. I like the body style of both and I know the gt2 is a monster. The 997 is probably more user friendly, but the fear factor of the gt2 excites me. Please give me both pros and cons to both. Thanks as always for your input and a happy new year to all.

For creature comforts the 997tt but honestly I like the interior of the 996TT better for styling - however the 997 seems to have more amenities. If you're not going to track the car, no need for a Gt2, that's more fo a car you would really get it's worth on at the track.

I would buy a 997tt for sure. GT2 would be great if you wanted to track, but otherwise get the newer, more advanced, better looking, faster car.
For additional fun factor, upgrade the turbos and tune it.

newer - yes
more advanced - yeah perhaps, creature comforts, features etc...
better looking - that's debatable
faster - that depends, stock maybe, throw on a tune and a few mods who knows after that
More fun - NOT! They are both just as fun, with a nod to the 996TT here
higher insurance - for sure!
higher cost - for sure again lol!
love both of them though

If you are driving it sparingly i.e. weekends, I'd get the GT2 if for no other reason than it will hold its resale value better when compared to thee TT....now that someone else has taken the hit eg 200K V 80K.

Money aside - GT2 for a weekend car.
If you are going to drive it in the winter as well in PA the 997TT / 996TT AWD is good, especially if you are driving without PSM.
The 997TT is much smoother in the power delivery than the 996TT (less turbo lag by far, more torque in lower RPM's, and the turbos kick in smoother).
It all depends how much you want to spend, and these cars have a bad tendency to break down when they aren't driven too much, so if you can get a car under some sort of warranty it's also something to consider because you will be happy with any of these cars. As soon as you press the pedal and the smile hits you - you forget about everything.

No track = 997 TT, hands down.
The 997 TT is a better car for the street. The GT2 is a better car for the track. Since you are driving on the street that's the way you should go.
You live in PA, if you ever want to drive in the winter, I think you know the GT2 doesn't have any drivers aids. However you've owned one before so you can be the judge of that.
IMO the TT has a much nicer interior and a nicer/wider rear end. I don't care for the front of the 997TT with the frog eye fog lights.
You should be able to get the 997 TT with some warranty left if not an extended one.

All depends on what "weekend driving" consists of.
997-If you want a nice, all around car that can fit more than 2 people on occasion (family). AWD is a nice plus too, IMO.
GT2- Definitely a unique car with LOTS of potential. RWD is fun, you may scare yourself a time or two, but you'll do it with a smile on your face. A more exotic and rare car vs 997t, although getting aged.
Would also take in to consideration insurance, maintenance and future plans for the car and what you would like to do with it. Mods? Price of mods? etc...not sure what your budget is.
My .02 cents, 997 is what I would choose because the performance is still there and its more versatile and a safer ride. Your call though.
