NCRC 12/21/2010 Laguna Seca

Well I did not get to my sub 1:36 mark this time around Every single lap, in every single session, their was traffic. terrible. My best was a 1:39.xxx through out the day and that was with traffic as well. I will post up the videos later on. It was awesome meeting etchhead and I got a ride in a 996 GT3 completlye stripped out. The lads name is Dave, lives in Santa Barbara, and WOW The thing weights 2700lbs it's stupid fast, and the driver is amazing

As for the tires i was running. My new hohos didn't get here on time, I was on 245/40/18 and 295/30/18 ... Not my ideal setup, those were my scrub tires with 35 + heat cycles. I love the 245/35/18 and 315/30/18 setup. I think i'm going to sticky yokahomas and finaly throw in my gt2 rear sway, and wevo motor mounts and thats it. No more mods. This car is done.

I'll post videos later lads. Happy new years, and happy tracking and lets keep it safe for 2011

Update:

I got the car up on a lift today and I noticed that the rear drop links were lose. That explains my understeering car, and also the front drop links were under a lot of tension, while the car was at it's natural rest. I think my alignment shop forgot to adjust these. Anyways Hopefully I'll get out there sooner then later with my new hossiers coming in and some motor mounts and see if I can get the the 36 this time around. I was talking to a few marshalls at the track and they said it was raining hard for the last few days, and i wonder if the rubber layed down washed away hence It was hard for me to get under 1:40's, I know it makes a diffrence for Formula 1 cars, not sure if it makes a difference for road cars on R comps.

Here are some pictures, i bought the CD and it arrives in a few days. In the mean time enjoy the crappy ones.

Way too much fun!

Thanks again for the invite down to LS. Had a fantastic time as my first time driving (and riding) the track. Still don't understand how you were able to bomb into turn 2 in 5th gear, make several inside passes then get the beast slowed down enough for a smooth turn. Very impressive and gives me something to shoot for.

Will get my PSS9s dialed in (2 or 3) and get some better brake pads then ready to give it a shot again in Feb.

What an addiction!!!

Enrique.. A 1:39 is a great time for a 996TT.. You are a few hundred pounds heavier than the GT3's and GT3 Rs cars and that's about all they can manage, even with instructors driving them. My friend Frank, who you met with the Gray GT2, running Hoosiers could only manage a 1:38 and our cars are lighter than yours.

Trust me.. Anything below a 1:40 in traffic is REALLY fast. I got my 1:37 on a clean lap with only a couple of cars in the way at the time and there's not much left in the Car.. Maybe a 1:36, but that's all. If you can get to a 1:36 in your car, it will put you in elite company.

Great job Enrique.

Graham, I just want to beat those woozy little GT2's that go around the track thinking they own it ( kidding ! ) We will see if the turbo has it in it. I'm not ready to make it into a stripper. Lets go for a drive sometime soon, I hope your holidays were full of joy.

As for my signature I think very few people know what it means, you are one of the very few I'm Spanish/Mexican and like Ferrari so I must like Italian culture, and of course i can pick up italian easy. ( took italian back in my college days )

Given that you know what "viva" means (as you say for example "viva freedom", as an interjection):

viva la figa = viva the *****

I haven't been to Laguna in 3 years. That place is so much fun.

Here are two more videos. You maybe wondering why I touch the shifter and not shift ? Well that is for me to take note when i'm where I would like to shift to the next gear but it dosen't make sense doing so but I can tell my exit speed out. The sooner i need to do that, the faster my exit speed.

First video is earlier session when my tires were not sa bad. Later session is later in the day. I hope you guys enjoy. Yes later session i was getting choppy, blame it on understeer.
