Wheel cleaner for HRE wheels?

My wheels ARE NOT clear coated.

I already use Mother's Billet Metal polish (this product is incredible for polishing). However, I still have what looks to be cloudy water stains on my polished lips. I am not sure what this is from (could be anything), but the Mother's polish does not take it off.

I am wondering what everyone has used (if at all) in order to really "clean" tough stains/spots on your HRE wheels. I would guess that a paste-based polish is more effective; something that is somewhat abras ive, but not enough to leave scratches in the lip's finish.

I plan on buying a Dremel motor tool drill and putting a buffing/cleaning pad on the end so that I could get under the bolts. I could take my wheels to a shop in order to have them cleaned, but the trusted shop that I would let do the work has to take apart the wheels in order to put the lip in their auto-polishing machine. Breaking the gasket on the HRE 3-piece wheels is not something that I want to chance (nor is it warrantied by the shop).

Any ideas? There has to be some product that will restore the polished aluminum back to its original "clean" surface.

Thanks in advance

Mother's Incredible is the best. I use that too. I've found that Simichrome works great at removing those spots. It's available at most Harley Davidson shops.

I've been using Mother's mag polish till now. It does a pretty good job....I just might be picky here, but mother's leaves a thin haze....I'm going to try the Alcoa.

BTW- for the guys who use mother billet polish...is there a difference between the mag and billet?

OH!! btw- Runier this is psykotic ryder from supraforums. Howdy.

Listen, try this mehtod as well. Try a clay bar on your rims for the stains. Use a clay bar as you would use on a car. My freind had some water spots that didn't come off his chrome rims untill he tried a clay bar.

I'm already using the Billet polish (look at my second line ), but I believe that I might need something with more "cleaning" power with not so much focus on the polishing side.

They sell the Billet polish at the Autozone near me, so I have it on hand whenever I want it.

Yes, it looks almost just like that; especially near the bottom of the picture where you see the "milky" haze spot right below the valve stem cap.

I believe that the body shop that had my vehicle might have put something on it, but what I can prove is a bit more difficult. It isn't worth the time, effort, and risk to have a shop disassemble my wheel just so that they can polish it. I would rather do it myself.

Any suggestions on product?

Ah, GOOD idea. I hadn't even thought about using a clay bar. That might work out rather well.

Thank you.
