what means boostlogic standalone?

do they reflash the oem dme?

Standalone basically means

he is no longer using the factory motronic engine management system. I'll let others chime in with more detail.

He's running a Hks Fcon V-pro as a piggy back to stock ecu, I believe.

kinda... The stock computer retains throttle control, A/C control, startup pump, and all of the ancillaries.

All of the Ignition Timing, fueling, compensations, multiple fuel/timing maps, etc is handled by the FCON. It also outputs all of the signals to keep the factory ecu happy(which many computers cannot do). It controls more than a comparably equipped turbo Lamborghini does with the aftermarket ecu I assure you, it's a hybrid standalone.
