anti-roll bars for 996tt??

I am going to replace the stock anti-roll bars with adjustable ones...any thoughts as to which ones work best for back roads?

John

Ken...do you have personal experience with any of these?

No, other than research. Personally, when I replace mine I plan to use the H&R rear only. I am told by Mike at AWE Tuning however that they are currently not shipping until they redesign it slightly.
My reasons for the H&R are twofold:
  1. The mounts utilize an inner teflon sleeve that alleviates creaking and groaning.
  2. They are the largest which will offer the greatest degree of adjustability assuming the drop link attachment point moment arms are comparable between the manufacturers.
  3. Rear only because there is inherent understeer in the stock car. Stiffening the rear will lessen this and actually create an oversteer demeanor when adjusted properly.

Ken...thanks for your thoughts. I am wondering why you want to create an oversteer condition? I would not think that this is the best balance for fast road work in unknown conditions.

Clarification:
I am looking to reduce the inherent understeer. Ideally a neutral car is best in my opinion. A slight bit of oversteer is better than a understeer in my opinion. After doing a recent skidpad, I can't stand turning the wheel and not having the car turn as well. I abhor understeer. Just my opinions though.

Oh, one more comment. Since there is already understeer present, the thinking of doing the rear only will theoretically yield adjustability from understeer (farthest drop link location in rear) to oversteer (closest drop link location in rear). By adding a larger front bar, you are fighting yourself if your goal is to tweak oversteer/understeer response.

Ken, yes I understand that this gets to personal preference...I tend to like a car that has just a touch of understeer. Then you rotate the car while trail braking...to me this makes for a more benign and easy to drive rapidly road car.

Beware of oversteer in a rear engined car going down a hill!

Once you get a little sideways, it's impossible to recover. Don't ask me how I know.
