Which cabin A/C filter?

I want to replace my cabin filter, however, I have found that there are several part numbers and dont know which way to go. I want the charcoal filter, but they usually reference M71 option which I dont have. Can I use it anyway?

Also, several suppliers reference a 997....... part number where others have a 996...... Can I use either?

Thanks
Scott

The one I got was from Pelican. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...FILTER_TOOL=ON

Look at the Mann one (last) it got a good review... But no mention about charcoal or not...

The mann seems to be charcoal activated http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...71-219-01-M347

Thanks. Got my filter today.

Question: There is a clip on the side nearest to the battery, however, both the old filter and new are too short for the clip to lock it down. is this normal or is there supposed to be something that holds it down.

Thanks again

Yes I know what you mean now. I got the wrong picture and my car is in storage... But I remember I only had to drop it in place. Nothing hold it there... Initially I thought there was something missing...

i had the same question about the activated charcoal filter. My E55 had one of those and there was a button i needed to press to activate it. My 996 doesnt have any buttons which I assume is the package they are referring to - so I should be able to just get the regular filter right?

You can use the charcoal filter instead of the plain paper. The Mann charcoal filter # is CUK3360.
Either the 996 and 997 numbers will work. Some suppliers are using older numbers for different brands. The latest number is 997 571 219 02.

Glad I got the charcoal filter. Previously there was a stale odor which is now GONE. Infact, the old filter looked like a fuzzy/hairy mess
