Update on my poor car...
If you dont know the issues I have been going through with my car here is the thread you can read: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ll-my-tip.html
Well my insurance company, Pekin, agreed to pay for my trans and any other damages and begin subrogation with the other shops insurance company.
I had taken the car to Barrington Motorwerks, who helped determine that water had entered the transmission but were charging much more for a rebuilt trans, not returning phone calls, and the advisor just showed lack of concern for my car. Still my insurance company was willing to pay but required that they look over the car and give warranty information and final estimate in writing. After waiting almost 2 months, I finally had enough when I asked this advisor about the status of my car and his response was, "Its between us and the insurance company." I looked at him and said, "Im sorry, this is MY car, they are MY insurance, and I am Your client." I talked to my insurance adjuster and got a quote from IPT and Midwest Eurosport. They were several thousand cheaper and willing to place the quotes and warranty info in writing. The adjuster had to pay a $750 storage fee to get the car out and move it to Midwest Eurosport.
The story gets even more screwed up after Eurosport pulled down my engine and found that my turbos were damaged probably because some idiot decided to start the car while it was in water! So now I need two turbos to be repaired. Tony at EPL is helping me have the turbos repaired instead of making me pay for two new turbos. I am so thankful to him for that. Eurosport also found that the previous shop had butchered the hoses on my AP racing plenum. They were cut as if a 10 year old took a pair of scissors and just cut around. The vacuum lines were loose. They had also zip tied my rear intake pipe to the suspension which rubbed and actually ripped a golf ball sized hole in the hose. They conducted a leak down test and found that the engine was still in good order and the cylinders still had good compression.
Transmission was removed and shipped over the IPT to get the rebuild done. I will post my tip rebuild in another post.
If your in the Midwest, I highly recommend Midwest Eurosport, they were very helpful and took the time to explain/show me what went wrong. They have a excellent staff and facility. Their prices are also reasonable. I made the mistake of going to a small local shop to save a few bucks and it almost cost me my car. The car should be back together in 3 weeks.

Just read your backstory and holy crap that sucks the other shop destroyed your car like that. It seems like you are in good hands now. Best of luck with the repairs and rebuilds. Let us know when it's up and running again. Stories like this make me sad as a car enthusiast and reluctant to let anyone touch my cars.

I am confident that the car is in good hands now. I am trying to be positive and hopeing to see some good improvements in performance. I am looking forward to compairing v-box runs. I hope to be in the low 6's 60-130. My best time was a 7.2 even with all these issues.

Sounds like we're in the same boat, although mine didn't start with windstorm damage. I also used a local shop to save a few bucks while installing a few "simple" upgrades. Now the car is at Motorwerks in Houston and Akram is trying to sort out all the mistakes my local guy made. It's interesting that you had the same intake piping damage that I did - caused by rubbing against the halfshaft. There's not much room in there for anything different from the original. (I have a tip also.) Good luck to both of us and hopefully a lesson learned for others.

Well the shop I went to is a very small shop in addison, illinois. They focus more on simple repairs. They have worked on my families cars for years without any issue. That's why I didn't hesitate to let them work on the porsche. I think they were probably thinking that a car is a car so how tough could it be. I think he bite off more then he could chew.

Vince, I read your story... I know its somewhat good... but dont blame anyone other then yourself... that's what happens when you try to save a few hundred dollars going to a shop that has no clew of what they are doing... ( Im assuming the one that did your intake intake install). I could have written a book on your car's history long before you even stated to mod.... this is a specialized field and it really takes someone special to get these car done right. I have such car at this moment. A few dirty hands were in it and its been bad news... Im just finally getting it up to ground zero.
good luck,

Im not saying that its not my fault at all. However, he had worked on other cars that I have owned with no issues. I really had no reason to doubt his ability. Anyone can make mistakes but my issue is with how things were handled by the shop and mainly after finding out everything, getting him to admit it how his insurance company was giving me a tough time. I learned my lesson about taking the cars to a shop that doesnt have extensive experience with this car and wanted to share my experience with others here.
Im just glad that the car is being put back together right. Im throughly impressed by Midwest Eurosport. I'll come over to your house when its done. Its alway fun to chill with you brother.
