K-sport coilover ?

What's wrong with putting a set of lowering springs on stock shocks so long as you also do an alignment if all you are looking to do is to lower the stance of the car a bit? Will that upset the handling or something? (excuse me if this is a dumb question but I'm still a relative noob around here trying to learn things!)
One issue with lowering springs on stock shocks is the spring rate is not matched with the dampers. If the stock shocks were adjustable for rebound and compression dampening you could probably adjust the shocks to match the lowering springs, but they are fixed. So what happens is the when you install a stiffer spring you have to change the dampening to match it so that the car doesn't bounce around like a pogo stick.
The other issue is that when you throw springs on the car you operate the shocks more compressed than they were designed to. One really bad thing is if they are low enough to bottom out. The springs available for the 996TT shouldn't lower enough to have this problem, but if it does your dampeners will blow and leak. The other issue that can happen is the shocks don't neccesarily bottom out but still over compress and will eventually blow early.

Thanks VAGscum, that's all great info to know. I was considering picking up a set of H&R springs but now it sounds like not such a good idea. I don't track my car but I certainly don't want to do anything detrimental to it's ride or handling either. Looks like I'm going to have to save up a few more penny's to get a set of coil over’s.

I just installed a set and will let you guys know how they perform on the street and the track. I thought they were very easy to install and did not take long.
I have installed Bilstein and Koni for years and can say that the fit and finish on these coilovers are just as good. The height adjustment is easy and the drop links have adjustable perches which allow you more adjustability.
They have excellent customer support based out of Arizona and can easily rebuild a shock for next to nothing if need be. No different than all the other name brand dampers.

Seems like no one has these in stock. I have been looking but I get a one month lead time. If I can get my hands on them they will be on in one week and I can report back.

everyone says they'll install them and will report back but they NEVER do. Hahaha! Must be a reason.
