Pat, I read up on those and I heard they are fragile and tend to have issues. did you notice a difference with the supposed higher voltage spark?

I use a bocsh platinum. 3 different heat ranges.

I have had a few fail in my other cars but but am still ok with them. Every car I have put them in I could feel the difference. When i put them in my Honda element I could actualy hear the difference. They claim that there is a quicker burn which produces more pressure and hence more torque. I change them every driving season in the turbo just for the heck of it and to make sure the gap is set to .025".

Looks liek the Bosch Fr5 LDC has most votes - is this because it's the one step colder plug to the stock plugs? As for gaping, is the factory gap width ussually in spec or do most of you find yourselfs re-gapping the plugs? What do you think is the highest power range for the stock spec plugs?

fuel type, oxygenated, intake air temps, water/meth, and boost levels all play apart. Do you idle a lot, drive part throttle, and want the plugs to last for thousands of miles? run the stock plug. if your ecu is pulling timing step it back one colder and so on until you get what you are looking for. No two motors are the same and what works in one may not work for you. Test it for yourself. Gap.. open it up until you get a spark blow out then tighten the gap a few thousandths.

Tim, good info. Part of my interest is because I run at 6000 ft+. Less air here so everything changes. I am going to tighten the gap on mine.

I run BKR7Es gap at .025. I did them myself and the car idles smoother because of it.

Did you take everything off the rear end or did you do it with the rearbumper/ic's/etc still on the car?

Altitude really should not be a factor in our turbocharged cars since an engine producing 0.8 bar at sea level or at 6000 ft "sees" the exact same amount of oxygen. In other words, 0.8 bar of pressure is the same amount of compressed air at sea level, 3000 ft, 6000 ft, etc....

Yes it makes sense in Theory,,,But in practicality,,,,it does make a difference....to what extend I do not know....Air has less oxygen ,less condensed, at higher altitudes.So, the range that the mechanica/electrical sensors can compensate for that are only in a narrow window....Thats why a good tuner will ask what elevation you live in ,if it is not a common one.......Just letting you know my thoughts.......

I pulled the rear bumper because I didn't know at the time how to do it without pulling it. It wasn't too difficult IMHO.
