stock wheels with body kit?

I have a black turbo. Wanted to get the car lowered and also don't want to go any bigger then 18" for performance reasons. So instead of spending money on wheels I wanted to know if I powder coat my wheels black and change the center caps to the Porsche crest. Would that look bad with a body kit? Has anyone done this?

Thanks

Add some wheel spacers and you might have a shot, but I would suggest going with an aftermarket 18" wheel if your going with a body kit, there are plenty out there to choose from.

go with 15mm spacers all around (21mm rears if you roll the fenders). They will fill the fenders and give you that "custom" look. Lowered cars with factory wheels and tires look funny because you really see the gap.

Does anyone have pics of a lowered (H&R springs) 996TT sitting on factory wheels with spacers? I'm getting ready to pickup some spacers myself, and have heard all sorts of different MMs to go with!

I was leaning towards 7mm up front and 17mm in the back (possibly having to roll the rear fender) until I read this thread where it is suggested that I put 15mm all around??? Any help, more suggestions, or PICS would be awesome!

Thanks fellas!

The car in this photo has H&R springs with GT2 wheels.
This corresponds to:

OEM TT wheel + 13mm spacer front.
OEM TT wheel + 12,6mm spacer rear.

Imo rear end looks better with 7mm spacer added to that (works with rolled fender). Then it looks flush like this:

In other words, just based on this 13mm front and 20mm rear should look good when you use OEM 996TT wheels (8x18 and 11x18).

Thank you Mr. White. I think that does look good. Might save my OEM wheels afterall.

Yes, THANKS Mr. White...

Iv'e got a question about these pics now... I know the pics are not straight on, but it would appear that both cars have some negative camber front and rear... Do you think this is one of the reasons they are going so much wider than had been suggested to me? (7mm front & 17mm rear)

Thanks again for your input...

So Mr. White, you were doubling up the spacers on the back; any problems? I just found that one of my HREs was leaking from the seal and I put my OEM Techno back. They look so far in and I already had a 11mm spacer on; if you can double up, I'll put the 9mm on it also.

MY996TT, I did not double up, but I used 7mm on the GT2 wheels (which is a 1" wider wheel but same offset/ET45 therefore the GT2 wheel makes the outer edge of the GT2-wheel sit 12,6mm further out than 996TT wheel.) So how I meant it was that I added 1 x 7mm spacer to the already 12,6mm wider sticking GT2 wheel. So if you want the same flush fit look with an OE 996TT-wheel the rear spacer has to be 12,6mm + 7mm. I would not recommend doubling up.

atisvt: Regarding camber, the grey car just has whatever camber that happens when the car is dropped, rear camber increases automatically. The fronts really have 0 which I am about to change as it looks goofy.

On the white car, it was appr 2.8 negative camber in the rear and appr 3.0 negative front.
