DIY Clutch Install
#122
I am removing not installing!

ok my mistake thought you were installing. check the lifting hook. also the pass side upper stud if removed helps in tilting the trans. its longer than the others double nut it and back it out

Might want to keep it. It forces the transmission under the car and stops the transmission from entering the cabin in a severe rear end collision.

Just for gearbox removal. I plan to reinstall it. Thx

repalce the water pump as well and any and all rubber hoses and tie wrap every vacuum and boost line you can find. SO much easier with the motor out!

I noticed the DM flywheel comes with a bolt plate likely to better distribute the bolt load as well as protect the flywheel mounting surface from the bolt. See attached. SM flywheel has no such feature. No worries? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

cant comment on that but be aware the bolts are one time use and you need a flywheel lockout tool to secure the flywheel from spinning when torquing the bolts

We always used to use one of the bell housing bolts and a large screwdriver to lock the flywheel - though it is a bit of a juggling act if you are alone. Still, never bothered to purchase or make a flywheel lock.

that may work on a dual mass flywheel but chip a tooth on a 4000$ clutch setup and you will wish you had spent 30 minutes making a flywheel lock
