Almo, no cel's flashing
at idle you can hear the car misfiring

still can't find the problem

what really sucks is that this was my "dream" car 3 years ago, and in the 36 months ive owned it, it's been at the shop for 17 months.
in 2010 i put $107 of gas in my car, and have driven it for a grand total of 8 days.

Wow, sorry to hear! Can say hang in there but also understand the challenges can lead to hate and discontent.

Hmmm... sounds like it might be the idle air control valve (IAC)?!?!

Check any place where you have a ground harness between engine/gearbox and chassis.

However the elevated rpm at startup more seems like airleak... but theoretically you could get same effect from a problem with ground current leak that offsets your lambda/AFR readings from the sensors.

What error codes does an OBD reader show? Just misfire or something else too?

I had random misfires and kept getting MAF codes. Turns out the little plastic y venturi tube to the left of the intake plenum had a hairline crack, soap and a boost test can be your best friend.

Vacuum leak is my guess. MAny of the vacuum leaks change to small boost leaks under load and you may not notice the effects of that small of a boost leak. But you would notice a small vacuum leak. Check the two lines on top of your DVs as well as the other vacuum lines in the surrounding areas.

secondary air pump on bank 1 and bank 2 is what it says
when we reset the CEL light and turnt he car on , it sputters and dies unless we give it gas for a few seconds..

May be a solenoid issue as mentioned.. Basically it may be stuck open or closed, making half or more cylinders misfire/and or not work....

Do you need to OPEN, or PUMP the throttle to keep running?

Pumping gives squirts of fuel = makes it richer to compensate for lean condition.

Opening throttle gives more air = if it's drowning in fuel for some reason you can get it to run giving it more air.

Do you have very black smoke coming out in this starting phase? (= rich)

Check fuel pressure. Does the software take into consideration the FPR? Is the FPR good (Bosch Motorsport version or a "home made" version that many vendors sell?). Injector stuck is unlikely since you would only have one bank misfire from the AFR reading something strange.

If you had problem with ignition timing you would have other error codes.
MAF, connectors from MAF, connector to ECU. Also flash it back to stock sw when trouble shooting.

Disconnect the MAF and start it. See what happens. If it runs OK (ie no sputtering, etc) well you have your problem.

This is a common diagnostic Ive used elsewhere, it should not hurt the car, just to putz around for a bit. (NO wot, etc)

And this will literally take 1 minute to try.

^ that was the first thing i did... removed and disconnected the maf...
nothing changed

it LOOKS like we found the problem
smoke test revealed a cracked intake manifold...
it's covered under warranty. let's hope this fixes the problem

Sounds like it could cause that most definitely. Hope this solves the issue.

im just curious. how does an intake manifold crack ? isn't it a piece of plastic that doesnt move ? where it get stress from ?
