It's a great event. It's held 2-3 times a year. The best part is we all generally swap cars and passenger ride in other cars and sometimes drive each others cars.

There's a timing beam setup about 1.5miles down the runway, to measure speeds. I hit 195mph about a dozen times and a best of 196mph, which bettered my friend Adam's Yellowbird by only 1mph (damn it's fast).

The butt-clenching bit is the braking. From the timing beam there's about 400m to a corner, with some run-off area that the faster cars use. Lets just re-iterate that Porsche makes the best brakes period, I was standing on the brakes at 195mph and could bring the car stationary in about 400m or so. I did 195mph to zero braking about 20 times that day without problem.

The car was still accelerating at the beam as most cars don't reach top speed in the distance available.

What a beautiful site! It must be worth a couple of gazillion dollars with all the cars parked there. Where was Tiff's counter partner? Is she as cute as she is on T.V.? Wish I could attend something spectacular as that and thanks for sharing this with us. That's really impressive.

Guy - How does your GT2 compare to Adam's Rturbo?? I remember him saying that the CTR on high boost was faster than the Rturbo. What is the real difference between a Ruf Rturbo and a Ruf RGT2?
