Heading to Texas Mile for 1st time with 996 tiptronic
Heading to Goliad early tomorrow morning with the 996tt. Just read the rules and definitely getting nervous. I have been 150/160MPH 50+ times on the Mexican highway, but never over that yet.
The new built IPT transmission is installed with the high stall torque converter. Had the whole car checked out and the tires force road balanced.
I am currently running
-Alpha 28s
-60 lb injector with second inline pump
-AP y-pipe tb plenum
-997GT2 i/c
-AP customer intake pipes
-Markski custom 3" exhaust without cats
-Greddy EBC ~72%, 13% set gain .85 bar wg open max boost at 1.6 bar with race fuel
-Hollow 18" twist with sumitomos
Built by Steve Ott @ Driversource.
Parts/Tuning by Vivid/AP/Softronic.
Only get one real pass as I don't have the higher level safety equip. Will wait until I get the best launch and go for it.
Per NYCTim's advice, I will tape all the front down and cover all holes.

DO NOT cover your front radiators no matter what!!!
DO NOT slam on the brakes immediately after crossing the mile marker. Ease slowly off the accelerator and then brake steadily at first and at 140-130 or so you NEED to stand on them.
Plan on making 2 or three passes at most tomorrow. Saturday is super crowded. Once you get into the afternoon, its a waste of time as its too hot. So get in line immediately after the drivers meeting in the morning. if you get there after 8:30am you will be waiting quite a while to run.
Take off your side mirrors. Tape your hood and sun roof. Do not use duct tape! Use gaffers or something less sticky.
I'll see you down there Ben. Good luck. Hope you are the first 996 tip to break 200.

I am a big fan of the stock wheels. Dude what was up with that tape job? You missed all the key spots. The gt 2 front end and that wing were killing you. Tell me its not a blast, specially when you look in the rear view and remember you are allowed to do this!

lol my bad...where should I have taped?
I didn't have the right tape so I kept borrowing different peoples. It kept flying off each run I did once I got to 160, 170 mph....
