Is this a fair price?

Is this a fair price?
I'm seriously considering this:
http://http://www.porscheofcoloradosprings.com/ou/colorado-springs-porsche/console.do?page=p_inventory&year=2002&make=Porsche &model=911&bodyStyle=Coupe&lockNewUsed=Used&stockT ype=Used&view=expanded&sort=year&sortOrder=1&pageS ize=20&dealerId=%5B2278_2526%5D
The car looks clean, and 2nd gear "seems" to be stable. Is this a fair price? Is there anything else that a mechanic should look at when I have it checked out?

owl - my two cents is this is kinda high. I would call High Marks in Morristown New Jersey and have a conversation with John. He is a member of Porsche Club of America - good luck

See if you can do some wheelin' and deelin' on that car. It is overpriced at $50k and at that price it won't sell any time soon. If it is CPO I'd try and get them down into the low $40k's and that would be a good deal.

Just one reference price. I paid $54K for my 2004 X50 Cab Tip in December of 2008. It had 54K miles (has 75K now).
Makes this seem pricey for a 2 year older car over 2 years later. I realize the Tip probably lowers the price, but the X50 should trade for that.
Feels way too high. Low 40's maybe

All wheel drive cars tend to command a higher price in Colorado. I see prices for Sti's and WRX's that boggle my mind, so I am not surprised at this price. Every 996tt I have seen at local dealers sells. They don't sit for long and I am sure this one will be the same way. I would say if you can get them into the mid to high 40's, it would be acceptable. I am assuming it is not cpo? If not, then they should be willing to deal.

53k out the door would be reasonable, anything more and it would be too much.
make sure the car comes with the cpo with the negotiated price and get a ppi..
to be honest there are lots of turbos out there, be patient and find exactly what you want.

As stated price seems very high for a 2002. (Will they even 'cpo' a 9 year old car?? How much warranty will it get?)
For inspection I recommend an INDEPENDENT porsche tech do the entire CPO checklist, using the CPO criteria, add paint/body inspection and add a dump of the DME looking for any errors and over-rev data.
You cannot trust a dealer's CPO inspection.
Spring is coming and dealers will want to capitalize on rash purchase decisions by buyers feeling the fever... I would not be surprised if they stand firm.
And really, there is zero reason to buy a car from a dealer.

They said they won't "CPO" a 2002 car. (It's one year too old.) I'm asking an independent mechanic that I trust to go over it with a critical eye. If they say "no", I'm walking away. Thanks for all of your insight. The car is great, but it's not the only one out there.

No CPO - make an offer closer to 40K than 50...
Good luck
