Question Drivers electric seat has stopped working :(

Luckily the last memory position was mine! but its stuck in the current position and I cant move it at all

1st thing I checked was the fuse and both left and right seat fuses are intact.

Can I manually adjust seat?

What steps to take next?

Can you tell if any of the function are working to be sure it is not one of the switch that is at fault? If none of the function are working I hope and guess you already look at the fuse E3 (not E6 which is for the heating system). Also fuse E2 is in the picture for the control unit and E4 for the right hand drive cars....B5 also goes to the control unit but it is for the mirror memory...

Both switches do not operate and the mirror memory and reverse mirror dip has stopped so maybe i need to look at a few more fuses? as said though, the passenger seat is fine..

It is really difficult to see what's going on in the seat control unit on the wiring diagram. But there is always some logic that can cut the system completely. These are the fuse going to power the control unit. Take a good look at all these fuses.
For the right hand drive cars: E2-E4-B5

What is the model year of your TT ? Do you have a Durametric ?

Take it to the dealer. They need to connect a PWIS and reset the seat. I saw this happen to a customer last month. - Mike

The info I just give you are for 2002 and up so take a good look at all these fuses. I am confident you will found one burnt! Durametric version 6 can give you good info about the seat control unit if none of the fuse are at fault....

If your fuses are fine, then the next step is t check the harness connections on the seat.

This usually happens on my BMW's. When the harness comes loose due to the seat moving over time, the steering wheel, auto-tilt mirrors, memory, and driver's seat stop working. Once the connection is reseated, everything works again.

PWIS is the dealers computer to connect to the car... They have to reset the seat. This will be the fastest and easiest way to fix your issue.. i will almost promise its not a connection, motor or switch issue.. like i said i saw a 996 do the EXACT same thing recently. - Mike

If I remember correctly, you should be able to remove a plastic panel on the front of the seat which will expose the harnesses - I think it was two screws and it popped out. Right behind the panel that has the switches, you will see a white harness connector zip-tied to the frame of the seat. Make sure the connection is good at this point. Many times, the zip ties (like mine) will break and the harness will sit lower than it is supposed to. When this happens, the harness can be tugged along and lose it's connection when in extreme positions.

It seems to me that if a Porsche computer is necessary to reset an issue like this, then it would definitely have to have an error code associated with it. It would have to register in the fault system and then direct the ECU to shut down that particular circuit. In order to do so, it would require the computer to have a log of the occurrence. This is what leads me to believe it is more of a physical connection problem. Of course, I could be wrong as well.

This is a photo of my car when I removed the seat. Maybe it will help you navigate with your hands and check the harnesses by feel if you cannot gain access visually.
