Disappointing track day yesterday
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to run more than 1 1/2 sessions. My back right MPS Cup developed a bubble on the inner sidewall and the car got loose. Limped it back to the pits to see why the car was shuddering so badly and hoped it was just a build up of rubber ***** on the tire. Pulled off the wheel and you could see it was disfigured. Put the spare orange wheel on and called it a day.
New tires, rotors, pads, flush, GT3 air scoops, <30mins track time at bedding speeds.
Called TireRack and have ordered a replacement, just hoping I can get a bit more financial support.
Car came back in one piece which more than could be said for a Boxster that hit the wall yesterday, but would have liked to get more time on the amazing grip of these MPS Cups and new Cool Carbon brakes. Maybe one of those litte tire trailers will be in the cards for me soon.

Sorry for your bad luck. Good that you came in when the car felt "off" Smart move. GL with Tire Rack. They might help you with Michelin if it is indeed a manufacturing defect. They helped me get a new set of rear tires from Hoosier.

Sorry to hear that.
Same thing happened to me (not on a track) with my 2000 mile new MPS2 (purchased them online, no warranty); I haven't bought a MPS2 since then. With that kind of money, I can buy 2x of other reliable brands.

just be happy nothing else got damaged you could have had it pop at 100mph and shred on you and damaged much more stuff. glad that's all it was. don't worry, there will be lots of other track days for you

I had 3 bubbles delvelop on the inside of one of my rear PS2's. Called Michelin and they said it was caused by hitting something. I told them that was inpossible and wouldn't account for 3 bubbles. They finally told me to take it to a retailer to get inspected. Still got denied. Good luck with a Michelin warranty.

Good thing all went nice and safe though. At least you got a taste of it and can be amped for next time.
As previous poster experienced, the hard part with the tire warranty route is to prove no pothole/rough road or kerbs were driven over that caused the bubble.
EDIT: And this was suitably my 911th post.

Kinda disturbing when a top tire manufacture wont warranty a defective tire.
I had the same thing happen on a cheap nitto 18 mos after purchase. My crappy little tire shop offered to prorate and replace, no questions asked. They gave me 85% credit.
I hope they do the right thing

@Blockhed, thats the point of my post. A small tire shop (Tire Hut in Sunrise, Fl) and a mid range tire and there was no problem with them replacing it. It was my wives 240sx, so who knows, she may have hit something, but the tire had no visible damage. Infact, they told me it was belt separation or delamination, asked for proof I purchased from them, offered to replace based on proration of wear and out the door I went.
So to hear that its a new high end Michelin is disturbing. Sure they may say it was used on a track or high performance event, but isn't that what its designed for?

*** Just saw on a different thread that you were at Laguna. What wall did he hit? Near the start/finish?

Happened right in front on me. Exiting T6, right rear (and maybe right front) went off the edge and the car pirouetted in slow motion spinning up hill and across the track to the left and then into the wall. It looked like a soft hit. But it wasn’t, the car was jacked up. Both wheels had flatted and bent up into the fenders, headlight gone, front and rear fender damage and looked like the tranny may have split from the engine mounting surface. It was linking some kind of oil under the car right where the two marry up. A blue Corvette went off in front of me exiting T5 as well. Ended in the dirt on the left side of the track and was able to drive out. Not sure on the damage report, although another flatbed showed up at the end of the day.
