CDR220 Head Unit Simple Replacement | Help Needed

Guys and gals,

My CDR220 on my 996TT no longer really wants to accept the proper code. I honestly do not care that much for SQ in this car since I listen to the exhaust mostly, so I want a simple near plug and play solution. To get the dealer to inspect it, Ill pay as much to replace the damn radio with a decent alpine or something that is not 9 years old and crappy. Any suggestions?

If you don't really listen to the radio, why bother changing it?

I once saw somewhere where you can get radio codes without having to go to the dealership

I'll see if I can find details - maybe somebody else has had experience of this?

I have the code. 2 dealerships confirmed it. However, it just doesn't work. That means I have to go to the dealer (I usually take care of anything at my own shop) and pay them at least 1 hour of labor. Around here, I think its around $175 an hour. For $175, I can get a head unit. Just my thought. Anyone else?
