996tt vs 997tt

well, of course it does. It has 0.2 Liter more displacement which obviously will give it more power under the curve. I don't think it is the peak power that will help in the single gear run, but I am sure it has a broader curve throughout the range which will give it more acceleration in a single gear run.

Good looking car. However, a 997.1 turbo does not have pdk so that means a tiptronic and that is a deal killer for me. I know the turbo's are better and I know the intake setup is a bit better, but all that can be replaced in the 996. Knowing what it is, unless you are going to use it in traffic as a DD, I would not bite on it.
I only have my car for fun as working in the city, so it sounds like it makes sense to keep with the 996 and tune that a little for now. Save up for a GT2 RS instead!

There is an article in 911 & Porsche World (either April or May issue) comparing a stock 996 turbo with a 2010/or 2011 turbo S. The article notes that the price delta is 100K (pounds), and also notes that while the S is superior, the 6 is not giving away that much.

The 996tt in that blue is incredible, I've always had a soft spot for the colour; I remember when I was about 8 or 9 my Dad turned up in a brand new 993 carrera in that same blue - as soon as I saw it I knew I was a Porsche guy.

Nice article, you can view it out here:

Just wanted to know if performance wise there will be much difference between similarly modded models. X50 vs 997.1 vs 997.2?

Hi my great friend Alex,i'm going to tell Antonela that you don't want her anymore at the forum. You should be ashamed.

It's hard to argue with the 997.2's performance stats. The S version ran a 10.7 1/4 mile. With acceleration numbers like that most buyers would not need to mod. However, people on this forum aren't most buyers, and this forum has the bad habit of extracting the mod bug out of a 90 year old lady.

of course if you do this, the 996 won't hurt the wallet as much:

The 997 will be far quicker in anything from a dig, you need a LOT more hp to match it. But a stock 997.2 vs a Flash/exhaust 996 TT X50/S from a roll and I'd side with the 996 TT every time. Probably more even with the 997.2 Turbo S (If you can shift pretty fast).
