colorado I've had my XS in the winter and driven them through a serious rain storm with no issues of hydroplaining or losing traction. You're in colorado so COLD means different then it does in different states. I love them, the only minus is weight. I have alpha 3076's and on the street they hook great even when launching the car at 4k rpm. 245/315 18's I wish Hanks would come in more sizes

I went skiing today. On the access road there was tons of sidewash from snow melt. They handled fine. I'm sure if I pushed it they could break loose easily. However in the dry, they are awesome. Most of our summer here is bone dry so they will be perfect for me.

I suppose you're right. Last summer, I drove through several downpours with no issues with temps in the 60s and higher.

I was referring to last week when I got caught on wet roads and it was about 45 outside. Really had to take it easy.

I have Blizzaks for winter driving and it's by far the best car I've ever driven in the snow providing it isn't too deep.

Still waiting for the HRE's to return.

I am looking at the Kumho XS tires too. I don't think they make the V12s in a 315/30R18 size if I went to 12" rears.

Anyone else had both Hankooks and Kumhos with an opinion to share?

I ran 2 sets of Sumitomos on my n/a 996 and really liked them. I ran the lls rather than the llls. They have a little longer life at possibly the expense of slightly less grip. I could use my motorcycle roadracing skills and still push the car very fast in the turns by being really smooth. A lesser handling tire can actually make you a better driver by forcing you to do things to increase your cornering speeds other than solely relying on the stickyness of the tires.

I'd run them on my Turbo as well.

i'm about 2.5k miles into my set of the h'kook v12's and i'm not crazy about them at all. in fact, i'm a little surprised that ppl rave about them. they were ( very! ) squirrelly when they were new, and after i drove them relatively hard after break in they settled down somewhat, but nothing near the grip of the ps2's i had when running 19's or even the stock pirelli's asym's that were on the car when i got it. i feel flex when pushing them on twisty's, and they "give" unlike the ps'2's did.

the only thing that i really liked was the price, obviously. i'd buy another set only since the LA roads are sh*t and eat rubber. plus they're only like $650.00/700.00 a SET!..but i may try the sumi's next time. i will say this..

they're a LOT better than the falkens i once put on my 993. now THAT.. was a mistake, flat out

Like others here, PS2 unavailability a few months ago left me looking for an alternative, and I went with the V12s. After about 2500 miles, I am generally happy. Yes, it's a bit softer ride with more give when pushed through a corner than with the PS2s, but frankly it’s seldom noticed and at 1/2 the cost makes the PS2 tough to justify.

for the street the V12 Hankooks are great, grippy, and soft sidewalls to absorb some of the crappy road bumbs...the tire choice on the GT2 is pretty sparse, I have a good deal of tread but on the next set looking at Pirrelli, Toyo R888 or something a little softer and grippier, PSC is also a choice but they are a bit on the high side in comparison don't know how much better they would be than say a Toyo R888...
